Acapellies Choir: Echo Location at Woodchester Mansion - 5th June
Step inside the extraordinary space of Woodchester Mansion for a unique choral experience that moves, surrounds, and resonates. Echo Location is an immersive performance by Acapellies Choir, inviting audiences to experience the Mansion as sound travels through the Chapel, rooms, and its corridors.
The experience unfolds across the ground floor as the choir and audience move apart, allowing sound to travel freely through the Mansion. A song may reach you from another room, familiar yet changed by space, elsewhere, different voices and melodies overlap. The architecture shapes each encounter, creating a constantly shifting soundscape of movement and resonance.
Led by Eleanor Holliday, the 40-strong community choir sings rich polyphonic songs from around the world. These interwoven vocal lines respond to the Mansion itself, transforming its vast, unfinished interiors into a living instrument.
Echo Location is an invitation to listen deeply, wander slowly, and experience choral music in a way that is intimate, expansive, and rooted in place. All proceeds from the performances will go to Woodchester Mansion Trust, supporting the ongoing restoration of this remarkable historic building and it's beautiful chapel.
There will be two performances on Friday 5th June, at 18:00 and 20:00. You’ll be able to choose your preferred performance time once you’ve selected the number of tickets you’d like at checkout.
The minibus will be running from the bottom of the steps to NT Buckholt car park from 18:00. It will make return journeys after the performances are over.
